With a spirit of deep gratitude, we will spend this Thanksgiving reflecting upon all the blessings the past twenty-three years have held for us here at Horizon Wealth Advisors. While we remain focused on our business and our fiduciary responsibility for our clients’ financial matters, we try to keep in mind that this is only one part of our lives.
In his 1932 novel Brave New World, philosopher Aldous Huxley wrote that, “…human beings have an almost infinite capacity for taking things for granted.” It’s easy to become consumed by the “busy-ness” of life, particularly (again) this year, with all of the many challenges 2023 has presented. We hope that the coming year brings some clarity to our uncertain world, however, even with the disruptions of the past few years, we can still find much to be thankful for.
The holiday season is a good time of year to take a moment to recognize the many ways in which we have all been blessed and to “stop and smell the roses.” Many years ago, a good friend passed along the following quote from Charles Schultz, the creator of the Peanuts cartoon: “The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most money or the most awards. They are simply the ones who care the most.”
