With a spirit of deep gratitude, we will spend this Thanksgiving reflecting upon all the blessings the past twenty one years have held for us here at Horizon Wealth Advisors. While we remain focused on our business and our fiduciary responsibility for our clients’ financial matters, we try to keep in mind that this is only one part of our lives.
In his 1932 novel Brave New World, philosopher Aldous Huxley wrote that, “…human beings have an almost infinite capacity for taking things for granted.” It’s easy to become consumed by the “busy-ness” of life, particularly so this year, with all of the many challenges 2020 has presented. We hope that the coming year brings some relief from the current pandemic; however, even with the disruptions of 2020, we can still find much to be thankful for.
The holiday season is a good time of year to take a moment to recognize the many ways in which we have all been blessed and to “stop and smell the roses.” Many years ago, a good friend passed along the following quote from Charles Schultz, the creator of the Peanuts cartoon: “The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most money or the most awards. They are simply the ones who care the most.”
This holiday season, we hope you will take time to give thanks to those who care for you the most, whether that be your family, teachers, mentors, colleagues, or good friends. These are all people who are deeply worthwhile and make you feel appreciated and special. Pause and give thanks for these blessings; it is almost certain to boost your spirits.
We wish you a truly joyous and blessed holiday season this year.
