IRS Email Scam Internet Security Alert

There is a new e-mail scam in circulation (with confirmed receipts by some we know) that involves an e-mail supposedly from the IRS. It indicates that you have “underreported income” and contains a hyperlink that you are instructed to select. If you receive this sort of email request, do not open it as it will download files to your computer that may contain viruses or other malware.

The IRS “does not request detailed personal information through email.” Furthermore, it asks that you report such scams by forwarding the email to phishing@irs.gov.

We hope you find this information useful.

Have a good weekend.
