Joe founded Horizon in 1999 with his business partner, Larry Maddox. Joe’s primary focus at both Maddox, Thomson & Associates and Horizon Advisors is client relationships, consulting, and income and estate tax planning.
Joe joined Larry Maddox in 1985, and together they started the accounting firm of Maddox Thomson & Associates, P.C. (MTA). Joe began his professional career in 1978 at Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. where he provided tax compliance and consulting services for various individuals and corporations.
Joe attended the University of Mississippi, graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in Accountancy, and a Juris Doctor. Joe is a CPA, a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®), and a registered member of the National Association of Personal Financial Planners (NAPFA).
